Magnesium carbon brick is a high melting point alkaline oxide magnesium oxide (melting point 2800℃) and difficult to be slag intrusion of high melting point carbon material as raw material, adding a variety of non-oxide additives.Carbon-burning composite refractory made with carbon binder.Magnesium-carbon brick is mainly used in the converter, AC arc furnace, DC arc furnace lining, steel package slag wire and other parts.


As a composite refractory material, magnesium carbon brick effectively makes use of the strong slag corrosion resistance and the high thermal conductivity and low expansion of carbon, compensating for the greater disadvantages of poor peeling resistance of magnesia.


Magnesium-carbon brick has four main characteristics, namely, good high temperature resistance, strong slag resistance, good heat and shock resistance, and low high temperature creep.


Effect of raw material on the properties of magnesium-carbon brick


The main raw material for the production of magnesium carbon brick, the quality of magnesium sand has a very important impact on the performance of magnesium carbon brick, how to reasonably choose magnesium sand is the key to the production of magnesium carbon brick.Magnesia has electrofused magnesia and sintered magnesia, which have different characteristics.


Electrofused magnesia: large grains, less impurities, less silicate phase, high direct binding degree of grains, less grain boundary.


Sintered magnesia: fine grains, impurities and silicate phase is relatively much, the direct binding degree is poor.


For magnesia raw material, in addition to its chemical composition, it also requires high density and large crystallization in terms of organizational structure. Therefore, as the quality index of magnesia raw material used for the production of magnesium-carbon brick, the following contents should be investigated:


1. Magnesium oxide content (purity)


2. Type of impurities, especially C / S and B2O3 content


3. Density, porosity, stomatal morphology of magnesia (sintering)
